Have you allowed other people’s opinions of you to hold you back? If you answered “Yes,” you’re not alone. Every day, many people short-change their potential because someone thought they weren’t good enough. Well I have good news: God disagrees with them!

The Bible teaches that the Lord has the final word. He’s the ultimate authority concerning what we’re capable of doing. Isaiah 2:22 states, “Quit scraping and fawning over mere humans, so full of themselves, so full of hot air! Can't you see there's nothing to them?” (The Message Bible). This scriptural paraphrase is a bit rough, but it’s true! Sometimes we forget that people are people, and God is God. The Lord’s grace is all we need. His power works best in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Never allow someone’s opinion
of you to trump God’s opinion.

It doesn’t matter who they are.

In The Message Bible, 1 Corinthians 1:27 presents this thought-provoking question: “Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses – chose these ‘nobodies’ to expose the hollow pretensions of the ‘somebodies?’”

Rahab was a prostitute, and King David was a shepherd boy who was overlooked by his own father – yet God chose to use them anyway. So, the next time someone makes you feel like you’re not good enough, remember that only God has the final say.
