This Week's Topic...

Lord, I thank You that Your blood, grace, and mercy are sufficient for every mistake. This New Year, give me the courage to release my guilt. I will enter 2009 with the highest level of confidence, and the unhesitating assurance that there is nothing that can separate me from Your love. For I am fully persuaded that I am worthy of my call because Jesus has qualified me.

The Highest Level
of Confidence

January 5, 2009

We all make mistakes – mistakes that we regret; mistakes that haunt us; and mistakes that we never seem to let go. For those called to ministry, forgiving ourselves can be difficult. Not only are we subject to the judgment of others, but we are inclined to judge ourselves even more severely. Guilt caused David to cry out, "For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me" (Psalm 51:3).

This New Year, let us be resolved and committed to releasing our guilt and forgiving ourselves. Guilt hinders us – serving as a barrier to the promises of God. If we do not believe that we are worthy of our call, how can we carry it out with boldness and authority?

How will you respond to the whisper in your ear, "With all of your mistakes, who are you to serve God in this capacity?" Will you allow the accusations of past mistakes to silence you? Will you hang your head in shame? Will your confidence leave you? Remember, if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and knows all things. (1 John 3:20)

Daily Manna

You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased.

Psalm 4:7
